Day Seven – At Sea

So, today was a day of cruising around the northern most islands of the Lesser Antilles. The blue circle in the image above shows our ship’s general position for most of today, approximately 70 nautical miles from Saint Maarten.

The image above is our view from the upper deck, looking out towards the island of Saba. Saba is a special municipality of the Netherlands. Measuring just 13 square kilometres, it consists essentially of the top of the dormant Mount Scenery volcano. Its surrounding Saba Marine Park, a renowned dive site, is home to coral formations, dolphins, sharks and turtles. There are also many offshore seamounts, which are underwater mountains created by volcanic activity.

Even the Google maps overhead shot of Saba, shown above, has the same small clouds sat atop the peak as my shot taken earlier today.

We have spent the day in the Retreat. We arrived early, worked hard at R&R, cooled off in the jacuzzi chatting to a couple from Wimborne in Dorset, talking stories of cricket – quite possibly we’d played against each other in years gone by!

We’re heading to Epicurean this evening for supper and will raise a glass to our cousin Helen and her family. Today she finally found time to marry Tommo, with Mum and Dad in attendance and our Dad walking Helen down the aisle. Congratulations to one and all xxx

Looking good Mum and Dad.

Next stop tomorrow is the island of Saint Maarten. Stay safe in the chilly temperatures at home, we honestly are thinking of you all xxx

It has been a lovely day. The wedding was really special followed by a very tasty three course lunch, at home, provided by a 2 star Michelin chef, a friend / colleague of Helen’s. Your roses were lovely. Have another good day tomorrow on St. Maarten, we await your next pics.
