When we docked this morning, it quickly became clear that today’s weather was not going to play ball.

Our Captain came over the tannoy to warn us of thunderstorms across the island today. With that in mind, we sat and had a lovely leisurely breakfast in Epicurean, starting with melon and Greek yoghurt, followed by omelettes and toast, freshly squeezed orange juice, mango smoothie and English tea.

By mid-morning, it looked a little brighter, so we ventured out for a swift walk around the port of Castries. It was not to be, because ten minutes in, we were drenched and so retreated back to the Retreat!

For those of you that have visited Castries before, the Blue Pyramid tourist information centre is still there, with the private airfield situated behind it. It is actually just visible in our first picture but other buildings have grown up around it, including a new duty free area with distinctive red tiled roofs.
We didn’t venture to see the Pitons, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, because of the poor weather and because we have already ticked this venue off our bucket list.
Sea day tomorrow as we head back to Barbados. Today we received our flight tickets and boarding passes, ready for departure on Friday. Looking forward to heading home after a wonderful fortnight. R&L xxx
